About Us
The WBC is the town's recognized basketball program. However, we are independent and receive no financial funding or support from the Town Recreation dept. The Windham Basketball Club is a non-profit corporation run by a committee of 20+ volunteers. Operation of the program is dependent upon the availability of willing volunteers to plan, organize and administer this program. The corporation's official name is "Friends of Windham NH Basketball" dba WBC. The WBC runs the 2nd Grade Instructional Clinic, Recreational Program, Travel program and the Men's program.

2nd Grade Instructional Clinic
This instructional program provides the 2nd grade boys and girls with the opportunity to learn the game of basketball in an instructional clinic format. Players will be taught the skills of shooting, passing, dribbling and defending. They will learn the fundamentals of the game through various drills and activities under the supervision of volunteer instructors. The clinics are held Sunday afternoons for an hour and a half starting in early January and continuing for six weeks. For more information on the 2nd grade Instructional clinic please email Lana Sovereign (

Recreational Program
The philosophy of the recreational program is that any child wishing to play basketball will be able to compete in a non-threatening, enjoyable learning environment.
The philosophy behind the annual player placement is to formulate teams with an equal distribution of talent. With this objective in mind, a "blind draft" format is utilized. All children in grades 3-8 wishing to participate are guaranteed to be placed on a team.
The season consists of 10 games all held on Saturdays. Game times range from mid morning to late afternoon. Each team is allotted a 1 hour practice slot on weeknights between 6-9 PM.

Travel Program
The Windham Travel Basketball Program was founded to provide those players with the talent and desire an opportunity to play in a more competitive and demanding environment with a greater emphasis on developing individual skills through intensive practices and highly competitive games. Travel is intended for only the serious and committed player.
Boys play in the Merrimack Valley Youth Basketball (MVYB) League, and Girls play in the River Valley Girls Basketball (RVGB) League. Both leagues are divided into divisions by grade and talent.
The number of travel teams sponsored by the Windham Basketball Club is determined by two significant factors. Those factors are the availability of gym time and the number of players in each division with the skills necessary to compete successfully at the level of play required in league and tournament games.
Players on the travel teams are selected via open tryouts conducted by Independent evaluators who assist in the process of selecting players. The Travel coordinators oversee all tryouts, and final rosters and coaches are approved by the WBC Board.
The season runs approximately 5 months between October and March. Pre-Season work starts in October with practices (90-120 minute duration) 2-3 times per week. Regular season play begins in December, generally the week following Thanksgiving, with games (60 minute duration) 1-2 times per week and practices dropping to 1 per week. Regular season play concludes at the end of February followed by Play-offs which run 1-2 weeks into the beginning of March.
Travel teams also compete in various tournaments in the area. Tournament play is a fun way for teams to play outside their normal division and get more competitive game play experience. Tournament schedules usually require teams to play all weekend with the potential of multiple games on a given day, and are popular in the November Pre-Season, Christmas Holiday, and March Post-Season time frames.
Individuals selected for a travel team are not eligible to participate in the recreational program. For more information on the travel program please email John Severini (boystravel@windhamhoops.org) or Tim Kelleher (
